La Liga Special: Real Madrid or Barcelona - Who will win La Liga?

With the gap at the top having been as big as 10 points, the race for the La Liga title could come down to the last day, as SoccerAnchor's Rick D'Andrea explains...

It was only several weeks ago that Real Madrid firmly held one hand on the La Liga title, something they had not grasped since Fabio Capello's days in charge of the club in 2007/08. But three draws in eight matches has seen the gap between them and fierce rivals Barcelona close to only four points.

Jose Mourinho's run seems tougher compared to their Blaugrana compatriots, as they prepared for a Madrid derby against Atletico midweek - and won 4-1 -  whilst also needing to play Sevilla and Europa League surprise packets Athletic Bilbao over the coming weeks.

Barcelona's hit form at the right time, having not dropped having only lost once in 14 Primera Division fixtures. The Catalans do have several tricky teams to get past, but on paper, it seems an easier task than their capital rivals.

Levante are in the hunt for a Champions League spot, as are Malaga, and both want to claim a big scalp before the season ends to give them some extra confidence. Add to this a Catalan derby with Espanyol, and Pep Guardiola's men need to remain focused.

Also in the mix that musn't be forgotten is the Clasico between the two outfits on April 21, which Real have won 2-1. No Champions League football for wither side to think about now.

Currently, Real Madrid sit on 91 points whilst Barcelona have 84 to their name.
