Veteran Central Coast Mariners defender Pedj Bojic believes that the Asian Champions League is helping the Mariners be primed for an assault on the A-League championship. Despite it being reported that team's competing in the ACL and A-League finals would struggle to combine the two competitions, the 27 year-old right-back disagrees. “The Asian games in between have helped us,” Bojic told footballaustralia.com.au. “A few months ago we went through a stage where our performances went down but the Champions League has brought us up to our best level. It brings the intensity back up.” Bojic believes the Mariners have settled well into their first foray into continental football. "Playing in Asia is another level, international football’s always different and we’ve coped well with it.” Central Coast's next ACL match is against Seongnam in South Korea on April 18. This could mean the Mariners will be in South Korea only days before a possible A-League grand final appearance. |
