Marek Hamsik believes beating Manchester City in the Champions League will be tough for Napoli, but hopes his side can come good on the European stage on Wednesday night.

The Slovakia international admits his side are up for the fight, but he is also aware of the herculean task they face against a City side bursting with world-class players.

"It [the game against City] will be a great deal for us as it will be our first game in the best competition in Europe," Hamsik told his official website.

"Winning against City would be fantastic, but we know it will be difficult.

"We are playing against a team full of quality, but being able to play in the Champions League is a nice reward for all we did last season."

Kick-off against Roberto Mancini's side is at 20:45 (CET) at the Etihad stadium in Manchester.
